MIM Musical Instrument Museum
We are so fortunate to have in our city the world class MIM – Musical Instrument Museum. Housed in this fabulous building are 14,000 musical instruments from all over the world, accompanied by audio and video which showcases how they are played in their native lands.
The museum is the brainchild of the former Target CEO and visionary, Bob Ulrich who spent the evening at one of the opening nights mingling with guests of the museum .
There are Accordions (who knew there were so many different kinds used by so many different cultures??), Steel Drums, Ocarinas, Stringed Instruments of every type and even John Lennon’s Steinway Upright that he used when he composed Imagine.
This is Charice, a young Filipino pop singer discovered on YouTube and subsequently made famous by Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah and David Foster. She was chosen as one of the inaugural performing acts in the new 299 seat concert theatre at MIM. I kind of expected to hear “World Music” rather than “Pop” considering the global nature of the museum. It was an unusual choice for sure and not well received by some of the music aficionados in attendance. Personally I liked her – but then I watch American Idol…
Here I am with Charice. Now really, why didn’t I have my picture taken with Target guru, Bob Ulrich??? He was totally accessable.
Instead I got my picture taken with Bullseye, the iconic Target dog. Silly me…
So what does all of this have to do with Cici Bianca and Jackets??? I am anxious to go back and spend a few more hours just watching the videos and listening. It’s all about the senses – and that’s where inspiration comes from.
By the way, one of the curators loved my jacket and asked if it was French…

I can relate with you as to why you got picture taken with Charice instead of Bob Ulrich, I had the privilege to meet her twice already and this is something one cannot forget…

I just discover you today because of the write up posted in Charicemania.com about Charice. She is the most talented girl in the world and if you have time, just click on youtube (even in all sites, you can find her) to find out more about her talents. From drawing to baton twirling, acting, rap to any kind of music and the dancing is superb. I recommend the videos on Starking which was an instrument for Charice…

I laughed reading about the pic with the Target dog instead of Bob Ulrich. If you know him, please thank him personally for making Charice’s new album available at Target.
btw Charice is excellent at singing all genre of songs. She was invited by Andrea Bocelli to sing “The Prayer” with him in Italy for his birthday concert and also sang “Adagio” on Italian television, a beautiful Italian love song that can make you cry

The best MUSICAL Instrument is a LIVING Voice that can drop jaws and causes goosebumps when you hear one,,combine it with a powerful moving life story and you got a genuine,,musical talent,,, that is worthy to be heard even to the uncommon situations,,,CHARICE,,is THE ONE!!!, she can sing on top caliber even when all the man made musical instruments are gone or silent, for this,, i think she is worthy to be in MIM inaugural..
