Rose Garden Lane
It has been weeks and weeks since I have had the time or energy to even think about posting here. So much has been going on – travels and trunk shows and most of all, “the move”. I am finally settled in my new Studio at 1741 West Rose Garden Lane and I love it.
It was an unbelievable amount of work. But, somehow with the help of friends, employees, relatives and a great moving company, we managed. In addition to packing and unpacking hundreds of cones and spools of yarn, we had to bag and box over 15,000 rolls of bias fabric in 650 different colors and patterns and get them moved back into their correct numbered space on one of 95 different shelves. Whew!
If it had not been for my sister Nancy, the Interior Designer and Space Planner extraordinaire, the move could never have gone as well as it did!
Although the new space is a little smaller than the old Studio, the configuration is much better.
I love the openness of the new place and particularly like having carpet which is unusual for commercial / light industrial. All the shelving for the fabrics and yarns fits in perfectly – mainly because of my sister and her planning. If I would have tried to do this myself – well, forget it!
This is Nancy’s floor plan. If you notice, there is a red spot towards the upper middle of the diagram and one on the carpet – a couple of drops of blood where she got wounded… According to the movers: “No move is really successful without a little blood”.
In the workroom, the different areas of production have turned out to be very convenient for the creation of our Jackets and The Baby Line.
The layout of the showroom worked perfectly for the display shelves holding inventory that is ready to be sent out to stores.
It’s unusual to have French Doors in a manufacturing facility but these, leading into my office, sold me on the space.
I really love the entrance where the Cici Bianca for Baby items are displayed in a bookcase that was found in a little antique store.
By far and away though, the comments on the wall arrangement of plates in the Ladies Room have been the most fun.
So, here we are on Rose Garden Lane. Come and visit - we would love to see you!
